Pueblo police are looking for a former Craig man in connection with the shooting death of his wife and the shooting of a 19-year-old man early Wednesday in Pueblo.
Sgt. Elias Man--------zanares said police don't think the suspect, Duane Edward Manzanares, 38, is in Craig. The sergeant said that he and the suspect are not related.
The suspect and his family moved out of the Craig area in January, Craig police said.
"I don't believe there's any direct ties to the community at this time," said K.C. Hume of the Moffat County Sheriff's Office.
Hume said local authorities haven't been directly contacted about the fugitive. However, they received a widely circulated Teletype message about the incident Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Manzanares said the suspect is from the Pueblo area. The sergeant said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. He said police were investigating leads in the case Wednesday.
Pueblo police responded to a call of a shooting of two people in the east side of town at about 6 a.m. The shooting occurred between 4 to 4:30 a.m., Sgt. Manzanares said. A 30-year-old woman, who the sergeant said was the suspect's wife, died from a gunshot wound. A 19-year-old man who was shot was taken to ParkView Medical Center. He was reported in serious condition, the sergeant said.
The sergeant said police did not know the relationship of the suspect to the male victim or immediately have a motive for the shooting.
Sgt. Manzanares said someone who was present at the time of shooting identified the suspect.
He said he would notify local law enforcement if Pueblo police thought the suspect was in the Craig area.
"If we get information that he was in the (Craig) area we would tell police to be on the lookout," he said.
