9 a.m. The western area Winter Games for Special Olympics will be in Glenwood Springs today and Saturday. The Olympians will be competing in alpine skiing and snowboarding Friday and attend a victory dinner/dance at Glenwood Middle School. On Saturday, the athletes will show off their skills in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Call Julie Fite at 945-0395.

9:30 a.m. The community playgroup for children ages infants to 5 years and their parents meets every Friday until 10:30 a.m. at the Early Education Center in the Moffat County Administration Building, 775 Yampa Ave.

The Hayden Recreation Board is sponsoring Western riding lessons for children today and Feb. 25 at the indoor arena at the Routt County Fairgrounds. The cost is $20 a child. Multiple child discounts are available. Emphasis will be on safety and proper riding technique. To register and reserve ride time, call Karen Montieth at 276-3088.

4 p.m. The Boys and Girls Club will host a Club Buck Auction in the gym at the club until 5 p.m. Members who earned Club Bucks can bid on toys, games and other items. Parents are invited to join.

9 a.m. Tryouts for the annual Local Talent Concert of the Community Concert Association will be until 3 p.m. at the Moffat County High School auditorium. The concert will be March 6 at the high school auditorium. Call Jim Simpson at 824-4138.

9 a.m. The Ninth annual Ground Hog Indoor Soccer tournament will be at Craig Middle School until 4 p.m. There are four divisions: men and women for those 14 and older, and boys and girls for youths younger than 14. The fee is $25 a team. (Youths younger than 10 are free.) The practice schedule for February is Wednesday and Sunday evenings at the Boys and Girls Club. Youths younger than 14 will practice from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Practice for adults is 8:30 to 10 p.m. Call Bill Sawer at 824-0116.
