Lester Daniel Roberts: 1929-2005

Lester Daniel Roberts of Grand Junction, died Jan. 24, 2005, at his home. He was 75.

Roberts was born Sept. 1, 1929, to Jerry Daniel and Irene (Gibbs) Roberts in Maybell.

Roberts spent his childhood in Maybell and Craig, and graduated from Moffat County High School. On Nov. 19, 1956, he married Anna Hoffer.

Roberts served in the Korean War. He was a retired chef. He and Anna moved to Grand Junction 13 years ago. Roberts enjoyed fishing, hunting, being a father and grandfather, and he loved his dogs.

Roberts is survived by his wife, Annelies Roberts of Grand Junction; sons Harold Hoffer of Chatham, W.Va., Daniel Roberts of Vernal, Utah, Stacy Roberts of Houston, and Billy Joe Roberts, Terry Roberts, Ed Roberts and Gerald Roberts, all of Grand Junction; daughters Cynthia Roberts of Grand Junction, Deborah Roberts of Shreveport, La., and Peggy Roberts of Grand Junction; brothers Dennis Roberts of Florida, Kenny Roberts of Craig, and Larry Roberts of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters Betty Elifritz, Billy Visenter, and Lorna Wagner, all of Grand Junction, and Judy Johnson of Henderson, Nev.; 22 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Roberts was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Robert Hoffer.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction.

Graveside military honors will be Friday, Jan. 28, 2005, 1 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
