Near-native likes life in small town

Matt Beckett has lived in Craig since he was 5.

Twenty-five years, he said, is enough to qualify him as a native. And he has no plans to leave.

"I could never have kids and live in the city," he said. "I chose to be here. I like the size of Craig. It's great for kids."

Beckett graduated from Moffat County High School in 1992 and went on to study graphic design at Platte College in Denver.

He brought those skills back to Craig, first to work at the Craig Daily Press designing ads and then at Sign Source.

Beckett's worked at Sign Source for 8 years. He opened his own business, Precision Screen Printing, last year when Chaos Ink first closed down.

"There was just a gap there, so I thought I'd jump into it," he said.

This month, he purchased Sign Source and merged it with his printing business.

"This is what I want to do," he said. "I wanted to work for myself."
