I am writing to thank the people who donated Christmas gifts to each of the 29 adults served by Horizons in Moffat County at their annual Christmas party. As a board member of Horizons, I attended the party at the Boys and Girls Club and had a chance to see firsthand how special this was for all the Horizons clients.
Employees of government offices in Craig have been providing gifts to Horizons clients for the past 10 years. The tradition was started Pat Morales from the USDA office. Across the years, gifts for a few clients has grown into an annual party for all our clients complete with lots of great food and even a Santa. High school students from the Key Club bring cookies, hand out gifts and sing carols. Employees from the USDA and BLM offices donate enough gifts that each client receives at least two presents and stocking stuffers. Kmart contributes by offering a discount of gifts purchased in their store.
This party represents a great community effort. I want to express our thanks to the people who make this possible. A special thanks to John Godes and his staff at the Boys and Girls Club for making this such a special day. I am proud they've become an important part of our community.
