Shania Gurr is well-known at Sunset Elementary School for her smile.
"She's always very happy," Principal Jim Rugh said.
But, it takes some coaxing to see that smile. Gurr has an innate shyness that might surprise some of those who know her well.
The freckle-faced fourth-grader enjoys school. When pressed, she'll say math is her favorite subject, but left to her own, she'll say she likes everything about school.
"She's a good academic student who's kind to others and puts forth a lot of positive effort," Rugh said.
Outside of school, Gurr likes to play tag and board games. Life is her favorite.
She also shows horses in 4-H. This year is her second. Not for show is her American Shetland Pony named "Mighty Mouse."
"It's easy for me to get on him," she said.
Gurr says she has lots of animals at home -- horses, dogs and wild cats.
"We used to have rabbits, but they ran away," she said.
