Tony Delbert Balleck of Craig, died Feb. 4, 2005, at the Sandrock Care and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. He was 91.
Tony Delbert Balleck was born Feb. 17, 1913, in Craig, to Anton and Tressa (Arvay) Balleck.
Balleck was raised and attended school on Elkhead, completing the eighth grade there and later receiving a GED. He married Tony McAlister on Nov. 2, 1955, in Craig, and to this union, two children were born. Tony, Iris, and the children made their home on the family ranch on Elkhead, and he lived there until moving into town in June of last year. He was a farmer and rancher and very much enjoyed his work. He made violins and played the fiddle for square dances. He also enjoyed fishing. Balleck was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a former member of the Craig Elks Lodge.
Balleck is survived by his wife, Iris Balleck, of Craig; daughter, Nancy (Richard) Foster, of Craig; son, Tony (Joyce) Balleck, of Craig; grandchildren Adam and Scott Foster, Cameron Robinson, and Ashley Treece; great-grandson, Benhamin Robinson; twin brother, Joseph (Marion) Balleck of Craig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Balleck was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Johanna, Mary, Tresa and Helen, and his brothers Andrew and Steve.
Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 8, 2005, at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Fr. James Fox as celebrant. The organist was Elaine DeuPree, and the soloist was Celeste Sanchez.
Selections were, "How Great Thou Art," "Here I Am Lord," "You Are Mine," and "Wings Of A Dove."
Honorary pallbearers were "All Tony's Family and Many Friends."
Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Church or Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, both in care of Grant Mortuary.
