A car accident in downtown Craig sent a vehicle crashing into the side of a local business Thursday night.

A Pontiac Sunbird ran the red light at Yampa Avenue and Victory Way and hit an Isuzu, according to police reports.

The impact sent the Isuzu onto the sidewalk and into the side of Tiah's Coin and Currency.

The store was closed when the accident happened aat about 8 p.m.

Tiah's owner, Jim Everett, said he got a few calls from concerned customers and passers-by, who said they saw a vehicle parked on the sidewalk and police and ambulance crews near his store.

Everett said he was worried when he got to the store, but he was relieved when he realized there was only minor damage to the building.

The driver of the Pontiac, Sylvia Collins, 21, of Craig, was cited for failure to observe a traffic signal, said Craig Police Department spokesman Capt. Jerry DeLong.

The driver of the Isuzu, Torie Barainca, 53, of Craig, was not charged, DeLong said.

Collins and Barainca were taken to The Memorial Hospital and later released, hospital officials said.
