Moffat County 152-pound sophomore Zack Klimper, shown wrestling sophomore Josh Satterwhite, bottom, last week in practice was injured Saturday at the Carl Ramunno Invitational in Steamboat Springs. Klimper was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center after landing on his head during a semifinal match. The Dakota Ridge wrestler he faced was disqualified for the illegal move that put Klimper on his head.
Klimper was treated for neck and head injuries Saturday and released Sunday morning. According to Klimper's father, Rodney, the sophomore passed out twice and was flown to Denver Health Medical Center in Denver for further tests.
Computed Axial Tomography scans performed Sunday at YVMC were normal. Results of Magnetic Resonance Imaging tests performed Monday also were negative. Klimper will remain in Denver for further tests.
Rodney Klimper said that the trip to Denver was more diagnostic than serious. He also said though Zack's condition wasn't serious, there were still concerns about his post-injury symptoms.
"At least we know his brain is OK," his father said.
