Craig Fire/Rescue is seeking applications for the position of probationary firefighter. This position is volunteer/paid per call, with vested retirement after 10 years and will require a physical, drug screen, psychological test and physical fitness test.

To apply, pick up an application at the fire station between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Return applications no later than 4 p.m. Sept. 1.

Janko and the Giant to run in Press Monday

Because of a technical error, the final installment of the Newspaper in Education series, Janko and the Giant, did not appear in Monday's Craig Daily Press. The final installment will appear in the Monday, Aug. 8, edition of the Daily Press.

Habitat for Humanity sale Aug. 12 and 13

Moffat County Habitat for Humanity is having its second annual yard sale. Proceeds from the event will benefit the group. The sale is from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 at the Brass Key Realty parking lot, at 840 W. Victory Way.

Donations are being accepted starting Monday. For those who need to have something picked up to donate, call Melinda Bobo at 826-2670. Clothing donations are not needed.

Chip-and-seal work has begun on U.S. 40

Chip-and-seal work began Monday on U.S. Highway 40 from Craig to Hayden. This work will take four or five days to complete. During this work, one-way traffic will be necessary, and a pilot car will be used to protect the traveling public and the construction crews.

Final fog seal of the chipped roadway is scheduled to take place Aug. 8 and 9. Final striping of the roadway is scheduled for Aug. 11 and 12.

Observe posted speed limits, as they will help prevent cracked windshields. The Col-orado State Patrol will have officers on duty to enforce doubled fines for violation of the posted speed limits.

Small Business center offers funds workshop

A free two-hour workshop, "Funding Sources for Your Business," is from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Center of Craig, 601 Yampa Ave. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Craig Chamber of Commerce and First National Bank of the Rockies. The workshop will provide information about finding money from $1,000 to $2 million. Topics discussed include angel investors, venture capitalists, bank loans and SBA guaranteed loans. Yard sale will benefit scholarship fund

A Scholarship Benefit Yard Sale is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Moffat County Courthouse Annex, 200 W. Victory Way. All proceeds will benefit the Jean Nadler Memorial Grant-in-Aid given by the Delta Kappa Gamma teachers organization to a senior girl planning to become a teacher. Great items will be available, including furniture, books, household items, and clothing. Call Karol Bullen at 824-8407.

Division of Wildlife offering hunter class

The Colorado Division of Wildlife will sponsor a Hunter Education Class Aug. 15 through Aug. 19 at the Bell Tower Building of Colorado Northwestern Com-munity Col-lege in Craig. Classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m. nightly.
