Special quilt history day planned for May 7

A special quilt history day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 at the Craig Fire Station.

The Colorado Quilting Council is a statewide organization of people interested in preserving the heritage of quilting, promoting excellence in the craft and communicating new and old ideas. The council was organized in 1978 and has more than 1,000 members. The council meets monthly across the state. The Quilting Documentation Project is one of the programs sponsored by the council. Quilts are viewed and judged for their historical value and special techniques used. They are photographed and archived in an effort to document the history of quilts.

Those wishing to have their quilts documented should bring any history of the quilt, quiltmaker and family. The documentation is free, however, if you require documentation, there is a $5 fee. To schedule an appointment, call Cheryl Bush at 824-2567.
