More prison time possible

A Craig man pleaded guilty to two charges of attempted escape from a detention facility in an agreement that may add to two years of prison time onto a current two-year Department of Corrections sentence.

Shane Stockton, 21, is serving a two-year sentence in a state prison for attempted motor vehicle theft.

He originally was sentenced to Craig's Correctional Alternative Placement Services. Stockton attempted to escape the facility and later attempted to escape the Moffat County Jail. He pleaded guilty in District Court on Tuesday to one felony attempted escape charge and one misdemeanor escape charge. Other charges in those cases were dismissed.

Stockton is ineligible for probation, because the plea would make his second felony conviction.

When asked by Moffat County District Judge Michael O'Hara whether he would like to comment on his plea, Stockton told the court he was sorry for his actions.

"I'm sorry for all the problems I've caused and the people I've hurt," he said.
