Lillian Mildred McManus, formerly Pankey, died April 22, 2005, in McCall, Idaho. She was 94.
Lillian Mildred McManus was born March 7, 1911, in Shannon County, Mo., to M. C. and Lucinda Pankey.
McManus came to Colorado as a small child with her family in a covered wagon. She was the youngest of 11 children. Many nieces and nephews and their families still reside in the Craig area. McManus went to grade school in Great Divide and graduated from Hayden High School.
She studied education at Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and later at Mesa State College.
She married John Verle McManus of Craig in 1934. He preceded her in death in 1983. She taught school in Rulison for a number of years and later graduated from Sacramento Secretarial School in California. She was a meek woman and caring mother.
McManus is survived by her son, John Gerald McManus; daughter, Catherine Yvonne Gage of McCall, Idaho; grandsons Rustin and Rocky Gagnon of Grand Junction, Del Gagnon of McCall, and Mark McManus of Pasadena, Calif.; and several great-grandchildren.
McManus was preceded in death by Mary Alphena (Kitchens), Winfield Scott, Claude Montgomery, Mattie Verteste (Miller), Emmett Francis, Uba Grace (Montgomery), George Benjamin, Norma Jane (Ryan), Norman, and Orel Este.
Funeral services will be at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in McCall at 2 p.m. on Wednesday April 27, 2005.
Interment will be at Montecito Cemetery in Loma Linda, Calif.
