Teenagers are starting to get the message that it's not OK to drink alcohol, thanks to the work of local police.
Mothers Against Drunk Dri-ving rewarded Moffat County sheriff Investigator Jere-my Ash-ton and Craig police Officer Travis Young last weekend for their efforts to curb underage drinking.
Ashton and Young, who are underage drinking coordinators with Moffat County's Grand Futures Prevention Coalition, said teens are starting to recognize when the officers are patrolling.
"When we're out there, kids know," Ashton said.
Ashton and Young periodically patrol during "high-risk" times with the intent to keep an eye out for underage drinking. Two patrol cars will be out on the streets during Moffat County High School's prom weekend of April 29 and 30.
