Sports briefs for April 20


The Moffat County High School rodeo team competed in Fort Collins at the Northern Colorado Cowboys rodeo Saturday and Sunday.
Local competitors placing in the top eight were: Becky White, second in pole bending and ninth in barrel racing; Kendel Fawcett, sixth in barrel racing and fourth in breakaway roping; Tia Brannan, first in goat tying on Saturday and ninth on Sunday, as well as 10th in barrel racing; Clay Foulk and Brandon Whitaker were ninth in team roping.

Track results
The boys and girls track teams competed at the Fruita-Monument track meet in Grand Junction Friday.
On the girl's side, top finishers were: Angela Nelson, first in the 800-meter run; Angie Charchalis, second in the 800; Mari Katherine Raftopoulos, sixth in the 800; Amelia Parker, second in the 3,200; Kalie Bird, sixth in the 400; Markie Workman, fifth in the high jump and triple jump; Brittani Weber, second in the shot put; 1,600-meter relay (Charchalis, Nelson, Anna Herring, Jorgiea Raftopoulos) first; 3,200 relay (Charchalis, Mari Katherine Raftopoulos, Parker, Nelson) first; sprint medley (Kiera Moore, Cassie Rogers, Herring, Jorgiea Raftopoulos) third.
Top finishers for the boys were: Jake Bilodeau, sixth in the 100-meter run and eighth in discus; Sam Weeldryer, seventh in the 100 meters; Daniel Tague, fourth in the 200; Derek Duran, second in the 200; Mike McNicol, seventh in the 200 and seventh in the 1,600; Steve Crisp, third in the 3,200; Jake Miller, fourth in the 3,200; Jeremy Bird, seventh in the 3,200; 1,600 relay (Andrew Drake, Rowan DuBois, Peter Bacich, Duran) second; 400 relay (Tague, Drake, Weeldryer, Bilodeau) third; 800 relay (DuBois, Weeldryer, Cole Hausner, Andrew Drake) first.

Baseball team wins big
Moffat County beat Battle Mountain on Tuesday, 28-0.
