- The Independent Life Center will submit an application for funds to the Colorado Division of Housing. Before the application is submitted to the Division of Housing, the center invites all interested people to attend a public hearing from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Meeker Town Hall. The application is to request $27,400 to provide emergency housing vouchers for families made homeless as a result of the fire at Carstens Apartments. The proposed housing vouchers will increase the availability of affordable housing in Meeker. The request of funding from the Division of Housing is to benefit people with low and moderate incomes. It is not the intent to cause displacement from any existing housing. However, if people are displaced from their existing residences reasonable housing alternatives will be offered. Written comments should be mailed to P.O. Box 612, Craig, CO 81626-0612 and will be forwarded to the Division of Housing for consideration during the application process. If special accommodations are needed for people attending the public hearing, let the ILC know in advance.
