Alleged shoplifting incident nets meth

A police officer discovered drug residue in the possession of a Craig man after a Kmart employee stopped him for allegedly stealing some goods from the store Sunday afternoon.

Stephen Michael Cramer, 18, was arrested with a misdemeanor for unlawful possession of a drug after a Craig police officer found drug residue on a pipe hidden in a flashlight, police said.

Craig police Officer Tony Fandel found the substance that later field-tested positive for methamphetamine, police said. The flashlight was inside a backpack that the man was carrying.

Also hidden in the flashlight were small empty baggies and a bandanna, police said.

Police said the Kmart employee found three compact discs and a video game on the man shortly after he was stopped outside the store.

The goods had an estimated worth of $62.96.

The man also had a contempt of court warrant for a traffic violation out of Routt County, Craig Police Lt. John Forgay said.
