Philanthropy Days is coming to Craig region

People with disabilities now have a wheel-chair accessible van that will take them to the doctor's office and the grocery store.

Rio Blanco County residents have somewhere to turn for help with their utility bills.

Independent Life Center Director Evelyn Tileston credits Philanthropy Days for both.

"It was well-worth going," she said.

Philanthropy Days is an opportunity to match nonprofit organizations with funders in a way that allows both to put faces with programs. Non-profits in a specific region have the opportunity to attend only once every three years and this year Moffat County agencies have a chance they haven't had since 2001.

"The reason it's so vital that agencies attend now is that it's gotten very organized," United Way Director Corrie Scott said. "They broke the state up into seven regions and they hold Philanthropy Days in two regions every year. You can only attend if it's in your region."

In September, the event will be in Granby -- Moffat County's region.

Registration began April 1. Those interested in attending should call Nicole at 857-9838.

Anyone needing more information can attend a planning meeting at noon April 28 at the Craig Holiday Inn.
