Learn how to eat well
on five bucks a day
Registration is now being accepted for the Eating Well on $5 a Day class. The class is once a week, starts in mid-April and is open to anyone who would like to learn ways to eat healthier for less. The six-week class focuses on how to eat and shop healthfully, on $5 a day. This is a free class offered through the Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Office. Channel 9 Health Fair
is April 16 at Sunset school
The Channel 9 Health Fair is from 8 a.m. to noon April 16 at Sunset Elementary School. Blood draws, glucose finger sticks and hearing and vision screenings are available. Pre-draw for people 65 and older only is April 14 at Sunset Meadows II in the morning.
Library gearing up
for summer reading
"The Library is your Castle" 2005 Summer Reading Program at the Moffat County Libraries runs from June 13 to July 22. The program will feature dragons, dreams and daring deeds of all kinds.
Participants can read books and magazines or listen to books on tape. The program ends with a medieval festival Aug. 11.
Meeting on disc golf
There will be a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the CSU Corporative Extension office for anyone interested in becoming part of a steering committee to work on a disc (Frisbee) golf course at Loudy-Simpson Park. The committee will help design and build the course with a target opening date of May 30. The group has received $3,000 for construction from Moffat County Healthy People. Call 824-9180.
Huck Finn Fun Day is June 4 at Loudy-Simpson
Huck Finn Fun Day, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ladies Auxiliary and the DOW, is June 4 at Loudy-Simpson Park. Registration is from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
Events include fishing pole and costume judging, safety and rules with the Colorado Game and Fish and the Moffat County Sheriff's Office, and prize fishing for those 15 and younger.
No license is required, and there is a limit of four fish.
The fishing poles for the contest must be homemade.
The costumes must replicate Becky Thatcher and Huck Finn. Prizes will be awarded in two divisions: ages 1 to 8 and 9 to 15.
VNA extends hours
for children's DtaP shots
Because of the importance of protecting children, the VNA is extending hours for parents to bring in their children for their DtaP shots.
If you don't know whether your children have received these immunizations and want your records evaluated, call the VNA.
The fourth DtaP shot is given to children 12 to 24 months old.
The cost for the shot is on a sliding scale, and no one will be turned away because of inability to pay.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted.
