Star Student
Fourth-grader Jacob Teeter has gained the respect of both his peers and his teachers this year.
Standing out most among his many skills is his ability as a leader.
Students at East Elementary School are given opportunities to guide their peers in literacy circles.
It's something Teeter is great at.
"He's kind, caring and compassionate," Principal Diana Cook said. "He makes good choices and helps others make good choices."
One student is chosen to lead a group of five or six others as they make their way through a book.
"He helps people stay on task without being bossy," Cook said. "It's a great skill. He's just a super kid."
Teeter participates in several school-based activities, but he recently garnered attention for other involvement.
He brought many motorcycle racing trophies to school for show-and-tell.
Teeter has attended East Elementary School for three years.
"Just to see him grow and develop and make good choices has been great," Cook said.
