The Moffat County Ice Arena is open for the 2004 skating season. Session times vary according to the daily schedule of hockey practice and figure skating practice. Open skating session are 1 1/2 hours and are available every day. Each session costs $2.50 and skate rental is available for $3 a day. Take-home schedules for October are available at the Ice Arena at Loudy-Simpson Park. Call 824-3011.

The Craig Intermediate School Science Department is having an Earth Treasure Fair today during school hours, 201 E. Ninth St. Jewelry, key chains, desk sets and other items made from rocks, minerals and fossils will be available for purchase. The money raised will pay for a science presentation. Call 824-3287.

8 a.m. Community Coat Drive distribution will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 1050 Yampa Ave., in Craig, until noon through Nov. 5. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to noon. Anyone who needs a coat may come. One coat per person per year. Parents may pick up coats for children. Call 824-5222.

9:30 a.m. A community play group for parents with young children is scheduled at the Early Childhood Education Center, 775 Yampa Ave. Indoor and outdoor activities are available for children, and parents may bring snacks and drinks. Call 824-0371.

10 a.m. Hunter sight-in is at Bears Ears Sportsman Club, Cedar Mountain Rifle Range until dark. The cost is $5 a rifle. Targets and spotting scopes will be provided, and range officers will be on duty. Range 4.5 miles north of Country General on Moffat County Road 7. Call 826-0150.

6 p.m. The Yampa Valley Pregnancy Center is having its 12th annual chili supper and silent auction fund-raiser at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion. The Center is seeking donations to auction such as books, craft items, services and meals. Tickets will be available at the door for the following prices: $5 a person, $8 a couple, $16 for a family of four and $1 for each extra child. Hayden Recreation Department is sponsoring an English Riding lessons package at the Routt County Fairgrounds indoor arena in Hayden. The cost is $50 a person. Class times are scheduled according to age group. Call Becky Thayer at 824-0311 for more information.

Monday is the deadline to RSVP to attend a regional products workshop Nov. 10 sponsored by Yampa Valley Economic Development Council in partnership with Yampa Valley Partners and Community Agriculture Alliance. Reminder: Those interested in participating in the learn-to-skate program being offered at the Loudy-Simpson Ice Area should register by today. The program starts at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 9 and is open to anyone older than 5. The program fee of $20 includes four one-hour sessions.
