Student 'shows great promise'

Sixth-grader Cassie Anderson isn't sure which of her two loves she wants to turn into a career.

She'll either take her love for animals with her into veterinary medicine or her love of reading into the classroom.

"I want to teach people things," she said. "I like to read, and I want to share that with others and help them to read better and like it."

Craig Intermediate School Principal Don Davidson describes Anderson as a girl who "shows great promise and great citizenship."

Anderson enjoys school. Art is her favorite subject. As a member of the art club, she's very proud that her design for a mural was chosen by the school's nurse as a decoration for her office. Club members started the mural last year and are working this year to finish it.

Anderson also likes to play volleyball, which she does through the Recreational After-School Doorway program.

"Montana's my favorite state," the chatty girl said. "Most people like where they were born because it's special to them."

She has lived in three states and visited three others.

Anderson comes across as shy at first, but quickly breaks through her shell. She has three dogs, she said, and loves to take care of them.

Oh, and her favorite food is salad. She loves salads.
