Milestones for Oct. 16

Lorrae Moon of Craig has been named a Master Farm Homemaker in the Colorado Master Farm Homemaker's Guild 2004 award program. Moon and her husband, Lewis, have ranched near Craig for more than 38 years. They have three sons in school who also help on the ranch. The Moons run a large cattle ranch raising registered Angus cattle and growing certified hay.

Lorrae Moon sponsors and runs the Black Mountain Junior Rodeo Series. She is a sponsor for the 4-H student exchange program and also is a leader for several 4-H groups in the community. She enjoys scrapbooking and is a consultant for the Creative Memories scrapbooking club.

The Master Farm Homemaker award is sponsored by Colorado State University Extension Service, Colorado Farm Bureau, Colorado Cattlemen Association, Colorado Cattle Women, Inc., Colorado State Grange and the Colorado Master Farm Homemaker's Guild. The award has been given to rural ranch and farm women since 1954.

Shawna Renee Kleban

Shawna Renee Kleban, daughter of Dr. Michael and Kristi Kleban of Mesa, Ariz., has been selected for membership in The National Society of High School Scholars. Shawna is a junior at Red Mountain High School in Mesa. The society involves only those students who have superior academic achievement and are among the top scholars in the nation. Membership is by invitation only. She is the granddaughter of Pat and Larry Cook of Craig and niece of Scott and Kelly Cook of Craig.
