News briefs for Oct. 13

Flu vaccine is available from the Visiting Nurse Association in Routt and Moffat Counties under the "Vaccines for Children Program" for all children ages 6 months to 23 months and for children at least 6 months old who have any chronic medical disorder, such as diabetes or asthma.
Also, the program requires the vaccine only be provided to children who have no health insurance, are enrolled in Medicaid, or are American Indian or Alaskan Native. Call the VNA with questions at 824-8233.
Flu shots will be given by appointment only.

MCHS swimming pool available for public use
The Moffatt County High School swimming pool is open to the public. Lap swimming will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
Open swim will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children and students.
Season passes and punch passes also will be available and may be purchased at the high school athletic office or at the pool.

Hayden Rec sponsors English riding seminar
The Hayden Recreation Department is sponsoring an English riding seminar.
The seminar will be Saturday and Oct. 23 and 30 at the indoor area in the Routt County Fairgrounds in Hayden.
The cost is $86 a person. Discounts and scholarships are available. Riders may bring their own ponies or ride our gentle, experienced ponies. Helmets are provided.

Vengan a aprender acerca de buena nutrición y de cómo adquirir habilidades que les ayudarán en la crianza y educación de sus hijos.
Esta clase es gratuita y en Espanol. Se proverá cuidado de niños.
La clase será de mucho interes para padres que tengan hijos desde bebes hasta los 8 años. Se les invita a todos los padres; sientanse libres de invitar a otros miembros de su familia y amistades.

CNCC-Craig offers
belly dancing instruction
Belly dancing, also known as Oriental dance, Middle Eastern dance and Danse Orientale (Eastern dance) will be offered at CNCC-Craig campus starting Oct. 21. The class will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays at the CNCC Trapper Fitness Center and will include warm up, technique, choreography, dancing and cool down.
Melinda Bobo, the instructor, has nine years of dance experience and three years of teaching experience. The class will count for one-half of a physical education credit. No previous experience is required. For registration information, call 824-1101.

Grand opening set for Elks' new bingo room
The Elks will hold a grand opening Oct. 29 to show off their new bingo room.
Events will start at 6:30 and include prize drawings after each bingo game. A $250 blackout game will be played. The bingo room will feature a new non-smoking area and stairless entry. Call Dora at 824-2251.
