No leads in bomb threat

Police have no leads in connection with a bomb threat sent to Craig Middle School on Thursday night via e-mail, but they're seeking assistance from a local computer specialist.

"Hopefully we can get enough evidence to find out who it was," Craig Police Department Capt. Jerry DeLong said.

That person is facing a Class 6 felony charge.

CMS Principal Steve Wiersma arrived at school Friday morning and found the e-mail from an anonymous Yahoo account.

He called police and the school district's maintenance department who searched the school and found nothing.

School opened as planned, but teachers were notified and asked to be vigilant.

"Everything we could do we pretty much did Friday morning," Wiersma said.

Students were sent home Monday with notes for their parents explaining what happened and how the incident was handled.

"Be assured that precautions were taken to ensure the safety of all students and staff," the note read. "A thorough check of the building was completed, finding nothing to indicate either the presence of a bomb or a recent breach in the building's security."

Wiersma said he received no phone calls from concerned parents Monday.

"The police are following up," he said.
