The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering several drop-in flu clinics this month for all prioritized groups. To qualify as “prioritized,” individuals must fall under one of the following categories: children ages 6 to 23 months, adults age 65 and older, women who will be pregnant during influenza season, residents of nursing homes and long term care facilities, children 6 months to 18 years of age on chronic aspirin therapy, healthcare workers with direct patient care or out-of-home care givers and household contacts with children younger than 6 months old. Flu shots cost $18. Clinics will be held at the VNA office, 745 Russell St., from noon to 4 p.m. Friday ; from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday; from 8:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday; and from noon to 4 p.m Nov. 19 . Lillian F. Jensen of Nucla, Colo., died Nov. 10, 2004, at Heritage Senior Homes in Grand Junction. She was 86.

I would like to say a big thank you from the clerk’s office to everyone involved in the 2004 general election! Which, by the way, was the biggest turnout of active voters. Congratulations, Moffat County. Thanks to all the eligible electors who voted, candidates, poll watchers, the police and sheriff’s officers and election judges! Betsy Peck, Tom Morley, and Neil McCandless for dealing with all the address and name changes and provisional ballots. The clerk’s office staff deserves a huge thank you for going above and beyond their typical workloads and working the extra hours during the election. Thank you Tammy, Debbie, DeAnn, Sally and Brenda.

The staff and students of Craig Middle School would like to send a big thank you to the Community Budget Center of Craig for its generous cash donation for the purchase of school supplies. This money will be used to buy necessary supplies for many students in need. We appreciate the continued support from the Budget Center and entire community on behalf of the youth of Moffat County.

Grand Futures Prevention Coalition would like to thank the community for supporting the Magic, Magic Show on Sept. 28. Many local businesses purchased tickets for youths, making it possible for children 12 years of age and younger to attend the show for free. We would like to thank Moffat County High School for letting us use the auditorium, and a special thank you to Mr. Toovey, assistant principal, for spending his evening at the school making sure everything ran smoothly for the show. Thank you to Andy Whilden, Joe Muldoon, Mike Maneotis and Kyle Wilson for helping the magicians with their equipment and running the lights for the show. Thank you to the parents who attended the show with their children, it was a fun family activity for everyone. Thank you to Terri Jourgensen, Debi Harmon and Mark Harmon for volunteering on the night of the show.
