Colorado Northwestern Community College-Craig campus Vice-President Dean Hollenbeck was named CNCC's chief administrative officer.
Hollenbeck was appointed to the interim position following the resignation of former president Peter Angstadt, who accepted a position as the president of Rogue Community College in Oregon.
Hollenbeck takes over June 1.
"While CNCC faces challenges, there are also many opportunities," he said.
"This is a time for all the communities and constituencies we serve to pull together for the benefit of the college and the region as we maintain our role and mission."
Hollenbeck has been with the CNCC Craig campus since 1999.
It is not known how long he will fill the role as chief administrative officer.
The State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education will determine at its June meeting the procedure for determining a permanent replacement.
