Girls golf team gets season underway


The first tournament for the Moffat County High School golf team is almost always the first time its members pla on grass. So starting slow is something the team has come to expect.

Monday and Tuesday were the first tournaments for the Bulldogs. Monday the team competed at Tiara Rado Golf Course in Grand Junction and the Bookcliff Country Club Tuesday.

The Bulldogs finished in the middle of the team results both days with a sixth place out of 12 finish Monday and a seventh-place finish out of 13 Tuesday.

Senior Brittany Hutton led the team on both days with a 92 and a 96 for 18 holes, respectively. She finished in a tie for fourth on the first day and in 11th the second.

At Tiara Rado Amy Coulter shot a 114, Stephanie Kloss turned in a 119, Kaylee Perry had a 127 and Brittany Goss shot 127.

Tuesday Kloos shot a 104 followed by Chelsey Herod's 113, Amber Nicholson's 124 and Brenna Conci's 129.

The Bulldogs' next tournament will be March, 22 at Adobe Creek Golf Course in Fruita.
