Sweet Adelines grateful for support of annual fund-raiser

To the Editor:

We, the Sweet Adelines, would like to thank the community for a successful show. We have many people to thank. The children from the elementary schools and their music teachers; Betty Landon, Phyllis Reed and Denise Whitney; and Gail Petch for accompanying them. The Wildkats and Kittens and their coaches, Dawn Rader, Jannie Brenner, Angie Sparks, Cindy Boyer and Fran Hammond. These young people added a richness to our show we all enjoyed.

Carol Buchanan and Beth Gilchrest and Jerry Davis also joined us on stage. Craig Smith helped us by directing two of our songs, Donna Watkins gave an outstanding performance as our fairy godmother emcee. Her costume was made by Katie's Costumes. Lori Cunningham accepted the donations at the door, and Shellee Luke took charge of the silent auction. We are so blessed to have so many talented people in our community who also support the Sweet Adelines.

We would also like to thank the Moffat County High School for the use of the stage. They have always been a big supporter and help us get ready for our show and also our regional competition each year. The students who make up the light and sound crew always take good care of us, also. We appreciate your help and guidance.

This is the first year we tried the silent auction. We hope to continue this in the future. We had wonderful things donated from a number of people. Oak Pony Enterprise, David Morris, Sweet Water Trading, Chateau Chaminix, Rebekah McBride, River Ridge, Neolithics, Bernie Rose, Super Wash, Timberworks Log Furniture and Loyds Cleaners.

The community businesses and some individuals also supported us by giving sponsorships and publicity. They let us put up posters in their businesses and Craig Physical Therapy on Yampa Avenue dressed up their window skeleton as a Sweet Adeline. What a great plug.

During the writing of the program, there was a computer problem and a few names of our wonderful sponsors did not get printed. Grant Mortuary, Curves for Women and Country Living Realty were inadvertently omitted. We apologize for the error, and we will be putting up flyers around town to recognize all of our sponsors.

Our programs this year were copied by The Copy Shop. Thank you Scott for all of your help.

Thanks to Scott Stalchar from Pueblo for recording our show and making 24 copies for all of us to enjoy.

We would like to thank Channel 27 News for featuring us on the television several times. Michael stayed through a lot of rehearsal to capture some great footage.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank the Daily Press for all your help. Amy came to one of our rehearsals and interviewed our director and took pictures for an article. Cori organized the running of our ad in several editions before the show.

Again, it is so rewarding to be part of a community who not only like to hear us perform, but openly support the Sweet Adelines. We could not do what we love doing without the support of our "community family." We cannot express our thanks and love enough.

Ivy Davis,

Sweet Adelines, Show Chairman
