1941 -- 2004

Larry D. Suits of Hayden died June 21, 2004, at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver. He was 62.

Suits was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Hardin County, Ill., to Moses Orlando and Corrina Bell (Beavers) Suits.

Suits was raised in the Cave In Rock, Ill., area and lived there until the age of 14 or 15 when his family moved to Grants, N.M. Suits graduated from high school in Grants in 1961, and Aug. 4, 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Kittie Sue Power. They lived in Grants until 1972, when they moved back to Illinois and lived there until moving to Hayden in 1979.

He worked as a welder and heavy equipment operator in construction most of his life and for a time in the coal mines. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed shooting his rifle and loved the outdoors. Suits' main focus in life was his family.

Suits is survived by his daughter, Wanda (Chad) Peppler of Hayden; son, Larry Allan (Lorna) Suits of Hayden; grandchildren Tim, Kim, Thane, Chris, Amber, Jessie, and Ashley; sisters Brenda Mitchell of Elizabeth Town, Ill., and Jeannie (Larry) Tanner of Eldorado, Ill.; and brothers Robert (Loretta) Suits of Cave In Rock, and Leon (Vicky) Suits of Forsyth, Mont.

Suits was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Patricia Rose, a brother, Billy, and his wife, Kittie Sue.

Services were June 26, 2004, at the Hayden Congregational Church in Hayden, with Doug Zirkle officiating. The organist was Avis Funk, and the soloist was Gretchen Hayes.

Pallbearers were Dan Taylor, Dean Sleaford, Mike Peppler, Jim Robertson, Mike Arroyo and Pepe Arroyo.

Honorary pallbearers were Glen Kelley and David Funk.

Interment was at Hayden Cemetery.
