Greyhound agent regrets area closures

To the editor:
Dear Friends in Craig, Maybell, Dinosaur, Hayden, Meeker and Baggs, Wyo.,
Greyhound Lines Inc. announced this weekend the termination of bus services through Craig, effective Aug. 18.
We are saddened by this.
My husband, Harold, and I have enjoyed helping people plan trips and finding the most economical ticket prices for 25 years, beginning in 1979.
The company's letter to us, their contract commission agents, reads in part: "Since 2001, Greyhound has experienced a financial crisis, to make Greyhound a financially viable business in the long -term, we must eliminate unprofitable or marginally profitable routes and schedules we can no longer afford to run."
Unfortunately, folks, the bus schedules through Craig are "marginally profitable."
To obtain bus service, residents will have to go to Grand Junction or Rock Springs, Wyo.
Until Aug. 18, we will be here in Craig, serving you as we always have.

Nancy Ratzlaff
Agent, Greyhound
