City renews cable franchise
The Craig City Council approved the renewal of an agreement Tuesday night that is expected to net them $70,000 a year.
The first reading of an ordinance granting Bresnan Communications a non-exclusive franchise agreement breezed through with little discussion.
The 10-year agreement gives Bresnan the right to run cable lines through city-owned easements and rights-of-way. In exchange, the city will get 5 percent of the companies gross sales and access to up to three channels for public, education and government access.
The agreement also requires that Bresnan -- if asked -- provide up to $50,000 in equipment needed to launch a public, education and government access channel.
"I don't know that we'll ever get into that," City Manager Jim Ferree said.
