Thank you for saving teenager from drowning


To the editor:
Brian Ivy and his family would like to publicly thank the following people for their help June 16, when Brian experienced a near-drowning at the high school pool during the Sea Sharks swim team practice.
We would like to thank Sara Kurz and Caitlin Mahanna for noticing Brian had not surfaced from the water.
We would like to thank Marin Campbell, Wendy Humburg, and Jerry Davis for retrieving him from the deep end of the pool and administering CPR.
We would like to thank Sherry Kurz for calling 911 and notifying our family, and the dispatch office, ambulance crew, law enforcement officers and fire department for your quick response, stabilization and transportation to the hospital.
We would like to thank Sue Andrews and Betty Hodson from Crisis Advocates for helping our family and counseling the other swimmers at practice the next day.
We would like to thank Dr. Kipe, Dave Higgins, Dr. Reilly, Chris Morgan, IYY Davis and all other hospital professionals involved in Brian's treatment and recovery at The Memorial Hospital. Thank you for not only taking care of Brian but providing meals and a resting place for family members.
We would like to thank specialists from St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction who gave advice on treatment and Pastor Rod Compton for his support, prayers and always being available.
We would like to thank Mr. Pete Bergmann and Ms. Jane Krogman from the school district for checking on Brian and teammates, coaches, parents, friends and family who prayed, called, came to visit, brought flowers, gifts or food.
Most importantly we thank our Lord Jesus for his protection and care and for placing the right people in the right place at the right time. Sara, Caitlin, Sherry, Marin, Wendy, and Jerry, you will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
