Police investigating home intrusion

A Craig man reportedly used a gun to chase an intruder from his home Thursday night.
About 11:20, police were dispatched to the 500 block of Taylor Street on a report that a man had found a burglar in his home.
The homeowner heard a noise upstairs. He followed the sound and found a male suspect in his house, said Craig police Sgt. Bill Leonard. The homeowner confronted the man with a handgun and the suspect fled, Leonard said.
Officers searched the neighborhood but were unable to locate any suspects.
Leonard said the home invasion is especially concerning to police because of the brazen nature of the crime.
Instead of waiting for an opportune time when the house might be vacant, the perpetrator entered the home "at a time when we know most people are home sleeping," Leonard said.
Police will continue to investigate whether the incident is related to a report of a prowler several blocks away.
Someone was shining a flashlight in the windows of a home in the 800 block of Pershing Street. That incident occurred about 3 a.m., Leonard said.
