Name: Sandy Cordle
Occupation: Yampa Valley Golf Course Pro Shop Clerk
When and why did you move to Craig?
I was born in Ogden, Utah, as one of six children. My father worked construction, and we were raised in the Silt, Rifle, Meeker and Rangely areas, but I graduated from Rangely High in 1956. I moved to Craig in 1959 from Rangely for work. I worked at Brown's Cafe. I met and married my husband, Carl (Bill) Gerber in 1961, and we had four children; Pam, Lyle, Terri and Gerry. My husband was killed in 1975. I met my husband now, Ben Cordle, in 1979, and when we married we had eight children between us. We now have 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Who is your hero and why?
John Wayne is my all-time hero. I just like him, his shows, his personality, the way he led his life.
What's the most rewarding part of living in Moffat County?
I love the small-town atmosphere. People are somehow different here. People just kind of look after you.
What's the one thing that you would change about your life if you could?
I am just happy with my life as it has been and is.
What's the one thing you would change about Moffat County if you could?
I can't think of anything I would change. You know, wherever you go there will be problems.
What's the one thing about Moffat County that you hope never changes?
The caring and concern we have for one another here is one thing I hope never changes.

My favorite food is Mexican. Pat's Roosterante is very close to the Southwestern food I really like.
What's your favorite book?
I like mostly Westerns and mystery but, not much science fiction.
What's your favorite band or singer?
I like the Rat Pack, Dean Martin, Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr.
What's your favorite pet?
We had a dog we called "Little One." She was a lhasa apso. We had her four years, and she was just like one of the kids. She was run over. I can tell you when we found her, my husband, Ben, and I both cried.
Where's your favorite vacation spot?
Canada. We spent two weeks there and took in the Calvary Stampede. That was a great show. We spend several months a year in Arizona and I like it there.
What's your favorite activity in Craig?
I loved playing softball and was on the White Horse Inn team for 10 years. Bowling was my winter sport, and I played on the White Horse Inn's bowling team, too. Now, though, I am working on my golf game.
