Rodeo team gets two 1st-place wins


Pole bending continues to be a strong event for the Moffat County High School rodeo team.
The team placed two top finishers in pole bending during a three-day rodeo in Rocky Ford over the weekend. Kendel Fawcett took first in Saturday's pole bending event and Becky White took first in the event in Sunday's rodeo.
Next up for the team is the state finals June 22 through 26 in Golden.
In Friday's rodeo, the top finishers were: Goat tying, Tia Brannan, fifth; pole bending, Fawcett, fifth; Becky White, eight; barrel racing, Brannan, second; and White, eighth.
In Saturday's rodeo, the top finishers were: Barrel racing, White, sixth; Brannan, ninth; breakaway roping, Brannan, ninth; pole bending, Fawcett, first; White, sixth; Chelsey Schnackenburg, ninth; and Janice McIntyre, 10th; goat tying, Brannan, fourth.
In Sunday's rodeo, the top finishers were: Pole bending, White, first; Schnackenburg, fourth; barrel racing, Schanckenburg, sixth; White, ninth.
