Three injured in one-vehicle accident

Three out-of-state residents were transported to area hospitals after a vehicle that was heading west from Maybell on Thursday night rolled off the right side of the road and landed on its top.

The National Barrel Horse Association, NBHA, is holding a one-day event July 31 at the Moffat County Fairgrounds in Craig. Registration will open at 10 a.m. Exhibition will start at 11 a.m. and the races begin at noon. Races will include a senior division for participants 50 and older and a youth division for participants 18 and younger. Races may also include a peewee division. You don’t have to be a member of the NBHA to register and run the race but it is certainly not too late to join the district, said Kay Brooks, Director of District 10. Member participants will pay the $30 registration fees. Nonmember fees will be $35. Youth and Senior Division registration fees are $20 for members and $25 for non-members. No points will be awarded to nonmembers. Points are accrued throughout the entire season for prizes that are awarded at the finals, which will be in October in Rifle. The public is welcome and invited to attend. There are no spectator costs. There will be a Jackpot Open Poles race held after the NBHA race is over. Registration for the Jackpot Open is $15.The jackpot awarded to the winners will be a 70 percent payback. This race is held in a three-divisional format with full second splits.
