Karen G. Arambel


Karen G. Arambel, of Rock Springs, Wyo., died Jan. 21, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, following a brief illness. She was 67.

Arambel was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Rock Springs, Wyo., to Edwin and Mabel Stavran Swanson.

Arambel attended schools in Rock Springs, and was a graduate of the Rock Springs High School with the Class of 1954. She attended the University of Colorado, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1958. She married Robert P. Arambel, in Rock Springs, on July 16, 1960 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1994. Arambel was employed as a Visiting Nurse for home healthcare, had also volunteered at Sage View Care Center and participated in the wellness program in Rock Springs. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community, St. Veronica's Duplicate Bridge Club, PEO Chapter L, and Daughters of the Nile. Arambel's interests included spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed skiing, swimming, golf, horseback riding, traveling, hiking, and playing duplicate bridge.

Arambel is survived by her son, Robert (Carrie) P. Arambel, of Lamar, Colo.; daughters Peggy (James) Espy, of Savery, and Jane (Matt) Arambel-Kadillak, of Golden; and grandchildren Logan and Tanner Arambel, of Lamar, Mike Espy, of Savery, and John Kadillak, of Golden.

Arambel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 116 Broadway Ave., in Rock Springs. Father John Savio will officiate. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Section of the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.

A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Friends may call at the Vase Funeral Chapel, 154 Elk St., Rock Springs, Sunday afternoon until 6 p.m., and at the church from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m., then on Monday at the church until service time.
