Robert C. Noland, of Bouse, Ariz., died Jan. 4, 2004, at Mayo Hospital, in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 75.

Noland was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Canton, Ill., to Harlow H. and Mary (Childers) Noland.

Noland was raised and attended school in Illinois. He served his country during the Korean War. He married Shirley Meineke on June 22, 1951, in Aztec, N.M. They resided in Craig, where he was a rancher, until moving to Arizona five years ago. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold panning, rebuilding and restoring things, especially cars and black powder guns. He attended many Mountain Man gatherings, liked to travel, particularly to Alaska, and he loved his ranch work.

Noland is survived by his wife, Shirley Noland, of Bouse, Ariz.; daughters Donna (Ed) Rettmann, of Craig, and Barbara (Dirk) Murcray, of Rock Springs, Wyo.; sons Robert C. (Dayle Le) Noland, of Craig, Michael (Shaneen) Noland, of Craig, Patrick (Lori) Noland, of Craig, Byron (Edna) Noland, of Craig, and John (Kim) Pedroncelli, of Craig; 29 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters Jean (Rex) Moore, of Sun City, Ariz., and Mavis (Dick) Hess, of Colbran; brothers Richard (Bonnie) Noland, of Bouse, William Dean (Mary) Noland, of Albion, Ill., Jim Noland, of Montrose, and Jerry (Gloria) Noland, of Craig; and a sister-in-law, Pat Noland, of Grand Junction.

Noland was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Archie and Harlow, granddaughter, Amber Lynn Murcray, and nephews Scott Noland and Rick Hess.

Services were Jan. 10, 2004, at Grant Mortuary with Richard Roland officiating. The organist was Anne Carr.

Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow," by Joyce Miller and "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" by John Allen.

Pallbearers were Barbara Murcray, Donna Rettmann, Robert Noland, Michael Noland, Patrick Noland, Byron Noland, and John Pedroncelli.

Honorary pallbearers were Richard Noland, William Dean Noland, Jim Noland, Jerry Noland, Jim Meineke, Jack Meineke, and Bob Meineke.

Interment was at Craig Cemetery.
