The Moffat County High School boys basketball team won the first Western Slope Conference game of the season 53-48 Friday night against Palisade. Moffat County was down by three in the fourth quarter after leading most of the game.
"It was a close game," coach Mike LeWarne said. "We had a run in the fourth with our full-court press that gained us some points and the lead."
Seniors Anthony Loughran and Cody Palmer led the way offensively with 28 and nine points respectively.
"Cody Palmer had an outstanding game," LeWarne said. "He played probably his best game so far in the three years he's played varsity. The other guys did a nice job of getting him open and really feeding him the ball while he was open. It was a pretty unselfish game."
The Bulldogs improved to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the WSC. They travel to Delta today with the varsity game scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The Panthers lost to Steamboat Springs, 54-35, Friday.
Full results for the girls were unavailable by press time but they won 60-54 against Palisade. The win improved the Blue and White to 6-2. The Bulldogs travel with the boys to Delta today. The Panthers lost to Steamboat, 54-39, Friday.
