Wednesday was the second time in less than a year that Moffat County High School freshman Alex Sonntag has been in the barber's chair to get nearly a foot cut off her hair.
Both times she donated the byproduct to Locks of Love, an organization that provides hair prosthetics for children with long-term medical hair loss, free of charge or on a sliding scale.
"I just wanted it shorter and it grows so fast," the shy 14-year-old said.
Sonntag is a good student who enjoys school, bring home report cards littered with As and Bs.
Her favorite class is band, where she plays percussion.
Over the summer, she helped groom dogs. The dogs like her and she likes them. The experience is a good first step in her plans to become a veterinarian.
