- To the Editor: We would like to thank all the agencies and individuals who had a part in the rescue effort at the accident scene two miles west of Hayden early in the morning of June 20. Your timely response and expert care played a major role in the recovery of all the victims. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Sisk and the medical staff at Yampa Valley Medical Center. The follow-up visits from (State Patrol Trooper) Rick Kaspar also were appreciated. God bless you all.

- Bruce John Johnson, longtime Maybell resident, died after a motorcycle accident in San Juan County, Utah, on Monday, Aug. 9, 2004. He was 52.

- The 10th annual Craig Kiwanis Doubles Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Yampa Valley Golf Course in Craig. This year’s tournament will be dedicated to the memory of Dan Ovenden. There will be a shotgun start. The format will be six holes best ball, six holes chapman and six holes scramble (worst drive). Any twosome is welcome — men, women, couples, golfers and non-golfers. The cost is $50 per team. Cart and green fees are not included. The entry deadline is 6 p.m. Friday. The first 60 teams to pay play. Prizes will be given for first through fourth places gross and net. There also will be “special” category prizes awarded. Contact the Yampa Valley Golf Course.
