Postmaster in running for awards
Dale Hallenbach, Meeker postmaster and accomplished freelance photographer, is having an unusually good month and an especially good birthday.
Hallenbach was recently notified that he is a finalist for a photography contest with Photography Forum Magazine. He said there were 19,000 entries.
"I am shocked that out of that many entries, I am a finalist," he said.
Hallenbach, who also teaches photography at Colorado Northwestern Community College, said he had his students choose the entries he sent.
"I knew they would choose the best ones," he said.
The magazine's editor told Hallenbach his entries would, at the very least, be printed in an issue of the magazine as well as a book that would be published at the end of the contest.
To make a good week better, the Meeker Post Office is in first place for the best all around post office in the district.
"We are the best in every category including customer service," he said.
He said there were 10 weeks left in the agency's fiscal budget cycle before the results will be final.
"We sure look good now," he said.
Hallenbach said it is an honor to be associated with both awards.
"It was a good month," he said.
