Thanks also to the people of this community who opened their hearts and wallets to help support my efforts to aid orphans in Kamaila, Zambia. Enough money was raised to provide nutritious food for these 220 children for about seven weeks.

- The 10th annual Craig Kiwanis Doubles Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at 8 a.m. Aug. 14, at the Yampa Valley Golf Course in Craig. This year’s tournament will be dedicated to the memory of Dan Ovenden. There will be a shotgun start. The format will be six holes best ball, six holes chapman and six holes scramble (worst drive). Any twosome welcome — men, women, couples, golfers and nongolfers. The cost is $50 per team. Cart and green fees are not included. The entry deadline is 6 p.m. Aug. 13. The first sixty teams to pay play. Prizes will be given. Contact the Yampa Valley Golf Course.
