To the editor:

At about 8 p.m. on Friday I happened to pass by the mall. The lot south of Safeway was full of young people participating in the time-honored tradition of cruising. It was a beautiful night for it, too.

However, the next morning, going by the same spot again, I noticed the lot was littered with trash. This was not the first time I have noticed this. I'm sure the Triple Crown tourists and other people passing through our little corner of the world were thoroughly impressed.

The parking lot is not the same as your trashed-out bedrooms, with your mommy picking up after you. If the owners decide to run you off, it will be no one's fault but your own.

You live here. Show a little pride in your town. Pick up your trash.
