It's the generous support of residents that gets the Moffat County United Way to its goal year after year, and that same support allows the United Way to keep human service organization operating year after year.
But more than that, it's the 10 companies in Moffat County that show their support for the organization and its goals by matching -- dollar for dollar -- the contributions their employees make and the one company that matches 80 percent of its employees contributions.
In 2003, those businesses contributed $131,894 of the $340,000 collected, a solid contribution. Without it, United Way would not be as well-funded and organizations such as the Moffat County Dental Coalition, Moffat County Partners and many youth sports would face the possibility of closing, especially in a year marked by deep budget cuts on the state level.
These businesses -- Colowyo Coal Co., Excel Energy, Seneca/Peabody Coal Co., Trapper Mining, Tri-State Generation and Transmission, Cook Chevrolet, Daily Press, Community First Bank, Bank of Colorado and First National Bank of the Rockies, TwentyMile Coal Company -- match their employees' contributions and are major contributors to the health, quality of life and human service aspects of our community.
We applaud their efforts to go beyond their concept of a bottom line and contribute to the entire community's bottom line.
