Police continue to withhold the name of a woman who died in an explosion and subsequent fire in a garage in Ridgeview Sunday pending confirmed identification.
Craig Police Chief Walt Vanatta said officials are "99.9 percent" sure of the victim's identity but are awaiting final confirmation.
Deputy Coroner Bruce Zobel said examiners in Jefferson County performed a dental record comparison this morning to establish a positive identification. Zobel anticipated the information would be available later today.
According to police, the body was found in the driver's seat of a vehicle parked in a garage at 3851 West Sixth St.
"Neighbors heard an explosion and found the garage door bowed out," a police report indicates.
Neighbors removed the door and dowsed the fire, effectively containing it until firefighters arrived.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the deadly fire.
