Craig resident, Charles John Hellman, died Nov. 19, 2003, at The Memorial Hospital. He was 86.
Hellman was born Feb. 12, 1917 in Forest Park, Ill., to Charles T. and Kate L. (Ashfield) Hellman.
Hellman was raised and attended school in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Letha Musser on Sept. 14, 1983, in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked as a salesman in the appliance and vacuum business. He moved to Craig in 1983 from California. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and making crafts. He and his first wife Ilene raised grandchildren Scotty Boren and Cind Castaneda.
Hellman is survived by his wife, Letha Hellman, of Craig; stepsons Larry (Sandy) Seip, of Craig, Jerry (Wilma) Seip, of Vernal, Utah, and Harry (Dorothy) Seip, of Fresno, Calif.; a brother, Ron Hellman, of New Plymouth, Idaho; and sisters Ruth Hart, of Manahowkine, N.J., Ethyl Williams, of Dillwyn, Va., and Carol Sevier, of EeuClaire, Wis.
Hellman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ilene, and a sister, Betty.
Services were Nov. 24, 2003, at Grant Mortuary Chapel, with Marty Young and the Officers of VFW Post #4265 officiating. The organist was Anne Carr and the soloist was Wanda Brown. The selection was "Amazing Grace".
Honorary pallbearers were "All Chuck's Many Friends".
Services were concluded at the mortuary.
