Anniversary of disappearance brings back memories, questions

To the Editor:

Nov. 22 is not only the anniversary of the death of JFK, it is also the 24th anniversary of the day our daughter, Marie Blee, disappeared. Marie had gone to a dance in Craig and never returned to our home in Hayden.

We thank the task force from the Routt County Sheriff's Dept. and the Moffat County Sheriff's Department and the Hayden Police Department for the work they have done and continue to do in the investigation of this unfortunate incident.

They say time heals all, but whoever said it probably never had a missing child and never lived such a nightmare of 24 years.

What happened that Thanksgiving Eve, Nov. 21, 1979?

Was Marie's demise preplanned? Was Marie overdosed with drugs and left somewhere to die or freeze to death and later moved to the place where no one would find her?

Was Marie a victim of date rape and senselessly beaten to keep her from talking?

Where is her body stashed?

We have been left with so many questions, but the biggest one is, "where is my daughter?"

Someone knows what happened and where she is.

When the people who know what happened and where she is gather with their families on the holidays, we hope they reflect on the past and what they stole from us on Thanksgiving Eve 1979.

Paul and Mona Blee,

Grand Junction, Colo.
