While there may be some questions and concerns about the specific financing plan regarding the rec center plan, the bottom line is that it is a good plan and worth voting for.
Facilities such as the one proposed not only greatly increases the quality of life of those who live here, it also leaves a valued impression on those who visit here.
Voters on Tuesday will have the opportunity to have the final say on whether a combination sales tax and use tax increase will be used to fund a 57,000-square-foot recreation center. The proposed facility would boast a leisure pool with slide, lazy river and spray features, a six-lane lap pool, two racquetball courts, elevated walking track, 160-person meeting room with catering kitchen, senior citizen and teen room, a fitness center, aerobics room, gymnasium and six-point indoor shooting range.
With the passage of the plan, Moffat County would find itself in an enviable position with yet another attraction to make Craig a vacation desitination with a facility to bring in groups from all over the country.
Not only that but those who live here would have a state-of-the-art facility to enhance their lives and health.
Would it amount to an increase in taxes? Yes. But would it be worth it? We think the answer is also "yes."
